Hanbury

The walk starts from the layby next to Hanbury C of E First School. We cross the school car park and head South East across the field from a gate in the fence. After crossing a small stream into a second field and crossing that field, we enter a smaller squarish field. At this point we take the right fork in the path and head towards the gate in the South side of the field. On leaving that field we follow the hedge a short way to another small foot bridge. Once across that we can follow the footpath south until we reach Pumphouse Lane. Turning right we head along the lane until we pass a timber frame house on the right, towards the bottom of a small valley. The lane crosses a small brook and there is then a style on the right which leads into a field. We skirt the field to the right a short way until we cross a path that heads across the centre of the field towards the North West. We follow that path to Beck's Farm, which we pass to our right. The path leads to a road that we cross - there being another path almost opposite (to the right a little). he path takes us into the grounds of Hanbury Park. Cutting straight across the field we reach the start of a long avenue of trees. We turn right to head along the avenue. At the end of the avenue of trees the path continues across a field and up a slope towards the church at the top of the hill. At the end of the path we can follow the road as it curves up a short way to the church. At this point we turn right passing through the church grave hard to the edge of the escarpment and some great views of the area we've been walking across. A path from the grave yard heads over the escarpement, and down a steep bank and back to the School where we started.
