River Walk, Worcester

The walk starts from the St Andrews Garden of Remembrance on Deansway in the centre of Worcester. We start by walking down to the river from St Andrews tower. At the riverside we turn right and walk up to Worcester Bridge. At the bridge we stay on the south side and cross the river. On the far side a path leads south along the west bank of the river and this is the path we take. The walk follows this path for the best part of 1km until just after Diglis Fish Pass, where we come to Diglis Bridge. Here we cross the river and start back northward along the east bank of the river. We follow the path along the river bank crossing the small foot bridge across Diglis Dock. About two thirds of the way back up the east bank path we leave the river path at the Baker Boathouse. Following Severn Street we head towards the front of the cathedral. On the right we pass GoodRoots cafe which is a good place to stop for coffee if there is space. Following Severn St we continue to Edgar Tower where we then progress along the College Precincts which leads to the front of the Cathedral. From there we continue around the Cathedral following College Yard to the north west corner of the Cathedral. A path then takes us on a twisty route back down to the river - passing through an old river gateway. It is worth stopping here to look at the record of flood heights through the years. We then turn right and continue along the river bank and back to Copenhagen Street Car Park and the start of our walk.
