Madresfield / Old Hills Walk

The walk starts from the Lower Old Hills Car Park. We leave the car park and head up the main path towards Old Hills for a couple of hundred metres where we come to a gate in the lefthand hedge. Leaving the main path at this point we pass through the gate and walk along the edge of a field keeping a wood on our right. At the end of the wood the footpath cuts left diagonally across the fields down to a bridge. Crossing the bridge, we then turn right and follow the stream for about 1.5km. At this point we hit a T-Junction. Taking the right turn we cross the stream. We then cut diagonally across the next field and then follow the foot path towards Sawmill Cottage. At this point we come to a small road where we turn right. About 150m along the road just before a gate, a footpath cuts left. This is the second path we pass along the road. We take the path crossing a couple of fields and then a small bridge onto another small road. Here we dogleg left and immeditately right and then follow the path back towards the Old Hills. After about 4-500m we enter the woods via a gate. We cross the main path coming up from the car path and continue straight on up to the top of Old Hills. Once you get to the trig point on top of the hill, a detour to the left to the top of the rise is worthwhile to enjoy the views over Worcester and the surrounding countryside. We then turn back and southsward along the edge of the trees until we get to a point where we can turn right, cutting through the tree line, and down the slope back to the car park where we started.
